Network performance testing

With today's large astronomical data sets, the speed at which this data is downloaded is a constant concern, and future astronomy applications will require speeds much greater than those currently achieved by most users. As such, the CADC has created a network performance testing tool to attempt to discover the causes of these throughput issues.

Running this performance test provides us the data we need to discover and fix these problems. It will help us improve our connectivity to you so that you can obtain CADC data faster, and keep up with new astronomy based applications. The CADC would like to work with individual users at each institution to test their connectivity and diagnose any problems that may exist.

If you wish to perform this test, all the data that we gather will be available for download by you for your own examination, or to provide to a network administrator.
